Three themes over 25 years
Dr Startsev's talks follow three running themes. From the late 1990s to the early 2010s: industrial ecology and UNIDO programmes, meaning hazardous waste recycling, cleaner production and Chemical Leasing. From the mid-2010s: the broken balance between the biosphere and the technosphere and the role of natural forests and water in climate stability. Since 2017: the image of the future, environmental education and the civilizational project of Greater Eurasia.
The venues range from the headquarters of UNIDO in Vienna and the UN in Geneva to the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, forums in Saint Petersburg, Moscow and Yakutsk, and conferences in Lucerne, Montreux, Colombo and Bahrain.
