Work on land and at sea
Before and alongside his expert work in the UNIDO system, Dr Startsev directed practical work to remove accumulated environmental damage in the eastern Gulf of Finland. Ten years at the head of the Interferrum-Metall ship recycling yard meant dismantling decommissioned warships, submarines and sunken vessels. The international humanitarian project on Bolshoy Tyuters Island cleared the island of munitions from the Great Patriotic War. In water treatment, he promoted and tested the Russian hydrowave method at SUE Vodokanal of St. Petersburg.
